Thanks for watching👍. How much do you think Scott could deadlift?
Over 800 lbs with straps like he claimed as his deadlifts used to be performed with straps.
Ludvig Borga/Tony Halme said in his book that Scott claimed to have deadlifted 250kg his first time trying in the gym.
Whatever Scott claims minus 50 - 80lbs.
As much as he wanted to. Didn't you watch the video?
If the anecdote from the video is to be believed (I'll presume it is) I'd not be surprised at him getting to ~875-900lbs.
340 and doing one armed pull ups....that's scary strong
Scott Flash Norton. I remember watching some of his matches in WCW.
I like to remember his best wrestling days not as an nWo member, but as one half of the tag team Fire and Ice.
He was fantastic. Great look, believable and explosive. Steiners, Road Warriors, Ron Simmons and Norton were a different breed.
Edit: Dr Death Steve Williams as well
Doug Furnas was another extremely powerful pro wrassler. About the same age as Scott Norton also.
Especially his legs
@@misterslatshe had a 600ib bench as well.
YES, the video I've been asking for!
the guy is built like a tank, none can doubt his strength
229 behind the head press is unbelievable. Those sorts of weights are only just being passed for any overhead pressing today
I've always held Scott in high regards
That means a lot coming from you.
Scott Norton always reminded me of a jacked up Chuck Norris.
Wrestler "Ravishing" Rick Rude was mentioned in the video. Rick, real name "Rood," was no slouch at arm wrestling either. While he trained more for physique and overall strength rather than armwrestling, he occasionally entered real armwrestling events and finished near the top! However, he probably made more money armwrestling in bars after his wrestling matches where I believe he never lost a match.
Everybody gets beaten. I get that guys in bars are definitely lower tier competition but to think no one ever beat him once is a bit much.
@@ahahahaha496 while I would normally agree Rick was juiced up pretty heavily and I could believe he didn't lose in an environment where most of the people have a drinking problem. It's still a stretch though honestly.
@ahahahaha496 If you have trouble believing that a strong professional wrester could defeat drunks in a bar, then you're really going to have trouble believing this!
Mac Bachelor, a bartender and tavern owner, is said to have gone undefeated in armwrestling from 1931 to 1956! He had 6000 wins and ZERO defeats!
I'm sure most of his wins were against drunk patrons, but he did develop a reputation so that challengers from all parts came to him to take a crack at the title. If you read about his grip strength prowess, and understand that there were no professional armwrestlers or sanctioned meets back then, then believing that he went undefeated is more plausible.
@@PinnaclePete Been years since hearing about him . Legit legend.
@PinnaclePete it wasn't just drunk patrons that he beat. Once his legend and fame grew, serious challengers would go to his bar to see if they could defeat him.
Yes! Been looking forward to this one!
Hope you like it!
The road warriors in an interview years ago said Norton was a freak of nature in the weight room. I’d like to find that video again but one of em said if Scott would have focused on just power lifting he would hold world records in multiple lifts.
another great video... and I had never heard of him until your video
Thanks Gary, much appreciated
We love scott Norton.
Scott was a beast... i still wish he would have been an armwrestler at the same time doing the things he also did
I met Mr. Norton at an Independent wrestling show about 5 years ago. Put my arm on his shoulder for a picture, as he was as solid as a rock.
Another typically Fantastic Video. Well, researched as always & ultra informative. I love this massively underrated Channel. Thanks for all your hard work mate - keep them coming. Stay Strong 💪🏼 Be Stoic 🙏🏼🤨☝️🎙️🔥
Thanks again Neil, always nice to read positive comments but even more so, from someone who is so well respected in the world of strength.
@ meant every word mate. Love your work, great Channel 🙏🏼
Well done
Great video
Make more of these❤
🙏
how strong was Scott "Flash" Norton? notice NO ONE ever messed with him. that speaks volumes!
Elite strength, no doubt.
I mean, the power of that mullet would defeat most competitors.
I remember when Scott was wrestling in WCW in the late 90s, they would claim he could bench over 600 and I assumed that was just another exaggerated work wrestling claim, but now I see it was legit! I didn't know he was a world class arm wrestler either. I wouldn't say Scott was ever a top-level wrestler, but I always thought he looked like one strong, mean, tough SOB.
The guy was a World Champion arm wrestler before he started professional wrestling. He has wins over John Brzenk and Cleve Dean....
The only man with a winning record over John. They only matched up two times but Scott beat him both times.
@TyVince-p6r he flashed John 4 times in those two matches. Which is insane.
Richard Lupkes and Gary Goodridge had winning records over John .
@UncleTermite no, they didn't. Richard used to beat John in their first matches but then left armwrestling for years at his peak, when he came back, John was his equal. John used to beat Gary all the time in the beginning but Gary really hit his prime around the mid 90s, it was more equal between them but he still don't have a winning record on him.
@@mk5rob42 Yes he does he even beat him when he came back to arm wrestling, sorry but your wrong . John even said Goodridge and Lupkes have winning records against him your just saying things based off your opinion not actual facts .
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I saw Scott Norton walking in Tokyo in 1990 he was so thick n huge did not look human at all!
Did not human, so do! Do may be he? Dooo!
Didn't you mean to type did not look human?
@ thank you! corrected.
Great video as always mate, can I suggest a video on geoff capes? He past away last month and in his hayday he had some impressive numbers in the shot put and weights/strongman
Thanks Alex. I'll see what I can do
I always think of him tearing thick phone books in half by hand on the sooty show!
@@krombopulosmichael7368 or rolling over a red hatchback like the TV advert from the 80s 😁
Natty as well, kept up with the juicers. Icon
I'd say that if he's claiming a 505 pound behind the neck press, that all his other unverified lifts are exaggerated as well. Pulling a 765 deadlift off the ground without a warm up and being uninjured is possible, but not probable. I do, however, believe he was insanely strong. Now, his bench pressing power is up there with Bill Kazmaier, which lifted a world record at the time 661.4 pounds. So a mid 700 pound to low 800 pound deadlift is a possibility, as well as an 800 pound squat, but high 800s seems unlikely to me. He was probably the strongest non-strongman or Mark Henry professional wrestler to ever wrestle.
Beat me to it with that last sentence. The only wrestlers I’d put ahead of Norton are elite strongmen and powerlifters. Road Warrior Animal had an insanely high opinion of his own strength but even he admitted that he couldn’t match Norton.
Mark Henry is the strongest wrestler to have ever lived.
@@gytisk6998 you forget Bill Kazmaier wrestled for WCW
He worked security for Prince! That's amazing.
Very cool to watch.
Thanks, appreciated!
What a cool history
Happy to be the thousandth like, great video.
Thank you 🎉
Great video and thanks for doing my request and wow I didn’t know he was that strong, he was stronger than Denis and Levan but if I’m not mistaken didn’t he lose to Richard Lupkes sometime in the 80s? And now time to do a Lupkes vid next!
Did Norton and Lupkes face? How about Norton and Goodrich?
He was a beast
3 guy's tried to rob him one time in Minneapolis and he put all 3 in the hospital. He was wearing a fur coat I believe at the time.. Yes he was that strong. One of my good friends worked out in the same gym in the 80s. The deadlift story is also true.
scottie was a beast
He had the best powerbomb out of any of the wrestlers that used it. He used to throw the guy down so hard his feet would leave the ground almost.
One handed press & bodyslam to that dude… DAMN
Rey Mysterio during his days wrestling without his mask.
I actually believe he was a life time natural athlete
..
He was a world champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling which is extremely difficult for a foreigner to do
Wow 👌🏻
Tony Halme next
Ludvig Borga💯
Yeahh Scott "flapjack" Norton. I would have seen a a strong contest between him and Mark Henry!
I didn’t know Scott won Over the Top.
He Won The super heavy weight division. John Breznk won the truckers class
Also im curious who is the lightest person to ever bench 500 raw, and the highest raw bench to bodyweight ratio ever, has anyone ever done like a 4x bodyweight bench?
the highest ever achieved is 3.5 x bodyweight by Andrzej Stanaszek who pressed 390lbs at a bodyweight of 111.5lbs. if we are talking over 500lbs it would be John Haack who achieved 3 x BW with a lift of 590lbs at 198
@StrengthUniverse i saw a few guys on openpowerlifting who hit 500+ in the 165 class
Minneapolis, stand up!
Scott Norton one of the strongest pro wrestler in history and specially top 3-5 upper body strength in pro wrestling of all time as well as one of the strongest if not the strongest upper body strength possessing human during 1985-90 on the planet earth , when u add all the major upper body strength lifts that he did in bench press of 677 lbs with light bench shirt , front shoulder press ( likely standing ) of 495 lbs for reps and neck behind seated press of 505 lbs which i honestly think is a bit exaggerated with all due respect. The claim that he did regarding him doing over 800 lbs was related to deadlift and not bench press which u have stated , due to misunderstanding. Well detailed biography on this deserving pro wrestler. Thank u mate.
Youre a moron if you believe these numbers
No Mate, it was related to his bench press. I quote, "I ended up at 677, but I think I had,,,,,now this is with a demin bench shirt, not these things their strapping on now, it's ridiculous! Went up to 677, I could have easily, if it was something I was paying attention to, I would have been well over 8, no question about it"
@@StrengthUniversePretty sure it was related to deadlift but I could be wrong , I m not going to re watch those statements again of norton just for the sake of confirming what he said. Good biography and now do one on Doug Furnas as he deserves to be highlighted in your channel.
@@HUNTERS_CRACKPIPEScott has a legit bench press of 640 lbs in powerlifting competition so his bench press of 677 lbs is plausible in training , i don't believe his claim of neck behind the press which I already stated , deadlift and squat there is no way to know for sure.
@@abhinavkumar547 Thanks buddy. I'll circle back to Doug . I'll do one on Reg Park first
He was built like a house. He had one of those old school physiques. Barrel chest
When Devon says you’re a good arm wrestler. That’s saying something.
Strength, who would you say is the strongest person you've ever reviewed on your channel? To me, this would be it. If his numbers are for real, this is the strongest guy by far.
If we are talking about strongest professional wrestlers, Scott would probably be 3rd behind Bill Kazmaier and Mark Henry
@@StrengthUniverseI beg to differ because Doug Furnas would be stronger than Scott norton when u would compare their big 3 lifts but yes Furnas was also a pro powerlifter so he specialised on them whereas Norton wasn't a pro powerlifter and he has other upper body strength lifts that would be better than furnas' but then hey we don't know furnas' nos. on those other lifts as well. Nobody and I mean seriously nobody in powerlifting world was stronger than Doug Furnas from 1985 or 86 all the way upto 1989 or 90 when he joined pro wrestling. I have checked and verified in the powerlifting websites , no powerlifter on this planet was stronger than Furnas as he had consistently higher powerlifting total than every other powerlifters on earth during that time period. It was only after he left powerlifting and joined pro wrestling , other powerlifters could reach to the no. 1 ranking which makes Furnas' world's strongest man moniker in pro wrestling legitimate in one sense as all 3 strength disciplines whether it be powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting and strongman claim their reigning champion as the world's strongest man and Furnas was legitimately strongest in overall body strength when u would just take 3 lifts that assess the pure strength of individual correctly in 3 directions of horizontal push , floor push and floor pull.
Norton's wcw tag team partner for short time of team of fire and ice , "Ice train" aka "Harold Hogue" was even stronger than Scott Norton as well based on his claims although I was unable to find his records in powerlifting competitions , he would be legit and what he claimed seems atleast 95% true from what I have seen and reasearch on him because at the end of the day , u don't have any official meeting record of norton as well like his 640 lbs lift in competition now which used to be there decades ago but currently it is not available similar was the case with Ice train as he was featured in the powerlifting usa magazine of 1991 highlighting his records. Although I find his pb in squat in training to be inconsistent and hard to believe just like norton's behind the neck press no. claim , I have little doubt that his other lifts are very genuine to say the least. He strict curled and came very close of breaking the world strict curl record of master's age group of near 215-220 lbs from what I remember at the age of 56-57 just few years ago in competition and there is a video to prove that , he also Bench pressed 225 lbs for 50 freakin reps at the age of 56-57 and there is again video of that and few years prior to that 225 lbs for 50 reps attempt , he bench pressed 225 lbs for 70 reps. He is no more with us , God rest his soul. Bench press of 685 lbs with pause in official powerlifting competition , he was ranked 3rd best bench presser in Usa at that time by powerlifting usa which also meant he was the 3rd best bench presser on planet earth , the other two guys above him most likely would be Anthony Clarke and Ted Arcidi ( Legendary Pro wrestler Diamond Dallas page has witnessed him bench pressing 650 lbs with pause when he was aiming to break 700 lbs bench press barrier ) , which according to Ice train's words , he was successful in doing so as he had a pb of 703 lbs , squat of 950 lbs , deadlift of 800 lbs , witnessed shoulder pressing 405 lbs for 5-6 reps etc.
Part of tag team Natural disasters , Fred Ottman aka ring name Typhoon or Tugboat was up there with Norton in terms of physical strength . He was a powerlifter as well and had pb of 650 lbs bench press ( possibly in shirt of late 70s- early 80s) , squat of little over 900 lbs ( according to one source 880 lbs ) and deadlift of 750 lbs. In addition to that he was also a very good javelin or discuss thrower. A very big guy , 6'6 and 415 lbs at his biggest.
@@abhinavkumar547 As per the OP's question: Quote: "who would you say is the strongest person you've ever reviewed on your channel" I have have not made videos on Doug nor Fire & Ice
@@StrengthUniverse Op didn't ask to name the strongest pro wrestler though , he asked to name the strongest person u have ever made videos on and that doesn't mean only pro wrestlers from what I understand.
@@StrengthUniverse Jeep Swenson might also be in the top three strongest pro wrestlers.
Dude that was the Ultimate Warrior at 5:27
well spotted
How about a video on Jimel Barnes? He claimed he benched 900 lbs in Golds Gym and bench pressed 350 lb dumbbells for 10 reps
I've never heard of him until your comment. I'll look into him
900#? Probably a lie
Jimel Barnes is a Documented Fabrication Expert
Mark Henry is probably the only wrestler that can say he was stronger than Scott Norton.
Ken patera
What the hell could go on at a club in Minneapolis that would require that many monster doormen lol?
Bill Kazmaier wrestled also.
Btw Scott Norton is a real bad ass
In terms of physique, Scott Norton was basically a tree in a singlet
Great vid. Why censor/blur Paul Sullivan when AW vs Cleve tho? (Carl Adams in Over the Top movie)
Thanks, I censored his face in an effort to keep to the subject matter e.g Cleve vs Norton.
@@StrengthUniverse ohhh got it! Still good vid man!
Bobby Heenan said He could lift a bench that weighed 500 pounds!
Scott Norton was one of the strongest wrestlers ever. I think he could've dominated the UFC if had've chose that profession.
Scott had all these legit achievements so leave it to WCW to talk about his pancake eating achievements.
Mark. Henry.
505lb SEATED behind the neck press?! ...I don't think so.
I'm not buying it either.
I agree.
Nope
It could be true when I was a young power lifter I could do 405 like that and he was much better then I was by 50lbs so I can believe it. 💯
@sammydabull4001 The world record for behind the neck overhead press is like 538lbs set by Oleksii Novikov at The World's Strongest Man a couple years ago. And that was using leg drive and a split jerk. So strict pressing 500lbs while seated is not possible.
jerry blackwell next
Do you lift? A video about that would be interesting. :)
I've been lifting since I was 7 years old, now for 40 years
@@StrengthUniverse Cool, wanna show us a little bit?
Peak Norton vs. peak Levan or Voevoda?
Maybe if you could bring Norton in his prime into today’s world he would have a chance....but AW techniques, training, and strategy have evolved so much the last 15 years, Levan would crush Norton from back then in his actual prime
Now Norton vs Voevoda may be a closer match
@@DexterHaven The games changed quite a bit since then there’s more technical aspects now even Richard Lupkes came back stronger at 52 and couldn’t do much against the technical guys like Larrat and Bagent they toyed with him and Lupkes is arguably the physical strongest arm in history as far as raw power . Even Cyplenkov had to use technical things to beat him when he was less expensive in around 2009 .
@@UncleTermite Lupkes actually won that match vs. Bagent, the one in which Bagent won a round with his famous "Stand up, Rich" rant.

Scott Norton cme from world levelö bench pressing and then joined rasslin. From genuine to show.
He was strong enough to pin prime John Brzenk in arm wrestling I hear, that's super power strength
I remember his tag partner in Wcw, i think his name was A train, and he was every bit as big as Scott.
His name was Ice train who was even stronger than Norton but sadly not many people currently know about him. He was a legitimate powerlifter.
How strong was Scott Norton? Strong enough to set a new world record by eating 298 pancakes in one sitting back when he was still just a hungry lumberjack before pro wrestling made him a world famous celebrity.
Still undefeated
The strongest wrestlers I've ever seen were Scott Norton, Goldberg, Steve Williams, Mark Henry, Doug Furnas, Tony Atlas, Brock Lesnar, Bron Breaker, Road Warriors, and Johnny Stamboli

No, as per the video he went to school with Mike Hegstrand AKA Hawk. I even showed their year book in the video. I also purchased Scott's book
Bill Kazmaier and Mark Henry are the strongest wrestlers ever.
Scott was right there with them, Certainly stronger than Henry in the Bench Press, BNP, Bicep curls and pull-ups
Hear me out. How strong is chuck Norris. Facts included
Not very tbh...he was a martial artist 😅
Just for the simply fun of the chuck Norris facts it'd be fun to have a video on it
Chuck Norris once uppercutted a horse. Now we have giraffes
When Chuck Norris does a push-up, he doesn't push his body off the floor, he pushes the earth down.

Scott had two wins over Cleve. Cleve had many wins over Scott. Cleve natural, Scott not so much.
What about Raven 🤣🤪🥰
Kaz was the strongest, by far.
according to this guy he would play with brzenk and everyone else in armwrestling, i find that hard to believe.
Well that's what Scott stated and the fact that he never lost to Breznk in competition nor in practice on the Over the Top tour backs up his claims
@@StrengthUniverse i just dont think it was as easy as he says.
@@Peter-ju6vnyou have to remember, Brzenk would have been still super young at this time and very likely not on any gear yet. So Norton probably had a good 75lbs weight advantage over John
@Peter-ju6vn That’s the thing most think arm wrestlers just get on the table and dominate it don’t work like that ,for instance Devon Larratt took years and years of competing and going in competitions to get to the level he’s at ,Brzenk beat him all the time years ago when he was younger and Larratt was not in his own prime . Everyone stated somewhere, I mean even this video shows Norton losing and having to get better to win at the higher levels .

Late 80s wasn't a good time for AWA
I never liked cleve dean. I feel he was given respect for being better than he was, and was treated like he was such a classy and humble guy, when clearly he wasnt. I think he was irreverent of the new armwrestlers that would've buried him in a match with ease, up until his death
To be fair, from all accounts of people who actually meet Dean, including Scott Norton years after he'd retired from armwrestling; Cleve was indeed a genuinely nice, down to earth person.
wCw wasted his potential.
I thought Ted Arcidi was considered the strongest wrestler ever ??
Bill Kazmaier, Mark Henry, Ken Patera, Scott Norton, Tom Mcgee
No way was he as strong as Mark Henry.
In many lifts he was stronger than Henry, those being: Bench Press, Press behind the Neck, Hammer Curl, Barbell Curls, and Pull-ups
And you believe he pressed 505 behind the neck? I doubt it. A light bench shirt still adds at least 10 percent to his lift. @@StrengthUniverse
@@olegariomartinez6807 denim bench shirts back then added around 5%! Considering Mark's best competition bench was 518lbs and Scotts was 640; even taking into account the bench shirt, Scott was a long way ahead. Regardless of whether Scott actually did 505, he was almost certainly stronger in a strict press than Mark who relied on leg drive to generate his overhead power
There’s an interview with John Layfield I think where he mentions Ron Simmons went into a gym one time wearing cowboy boots and jeans and benched press something like 600 or 700 pounds and promptly walked out. I can see a Norton doing those acclaimed feats.
So after 3-4 years of roids he finally beat Cleve dean
Rick rude also
He was born in 1961.
No, that's incorrect, I appreciate many places on the internet state this but he was born in 1958 and graduated from High school in 1976, do the maths
